The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world’s most widely recognized English proficiency exams. It is designed to assess your ability to communicate effectively in English across four key language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Understanding the IELTS exam format is the first step toward achieving your target band score.

The IELTS test is available in two versions: Academic and General Training. Both versions include the same Listening and Speaking sections, while the Reading and Writing sections differ according to the test type. The Listening test lasts approximately 30 minutes, the Reading test takes 60 minutes, and the Writing test also lasts 60 minutes. The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview that typically takes 11 to 14 minutes.IELTS uses a band scoring system ranging from 0 to 9. Each section receives an individual band score, and these scores are averaged to produce an overall band score. Examiners evaluate your performance based on accuracy,  grammar, comprehension, and communication skills.
